My husband and I here for a short vacation and we are all about talking to bar staff or servers to where they suggest to go or where they hang out after hours.. Carmella at Clear Sky on Belmont (great place FYI) suggested Bobby's Bistro and without a doubt we were not disappointed. It is a bit pricey but the quality of food deserving and ambiance very quiet and inviting. We stayed far past any other patrons because we weren't rushed and Matt which usually tends bar at Beachcomber, was working as server this night and made some great recommendations for entrees. We had entire specials, scallop app, filet medallions in blue cheese pasta and red snapper. A really great Pinot Noir with meal. Ended with 2 ports and truly the best key lime pie made at the restaurant. Matt chatted several times with us as we wanted to know more about the area and was a wealth of information and such a great guy. Many people who Yelp don't get acquainted with a place or their servers as soon as they walk in. You have to be open to issues depending on timing of day or season and how busy it is but be open to your experience.

Nothing crafted about the food here, the scallops were eh, tough and perhaps unde cooked... Waiter "can I cook them some more" SERIOUSLY! Is that the DUMBEST response ever?! They even charged for them... The salad that was highly recommended was lacking flavor and attention... The veggie pizza was mediocre... Will I return? NO! ;))

Great service and a very good meal. Much less "stuffy" then the main restaurant with as good if not better food. Quite atmosphere and good ambience.

Tried to dine here recently because several years previously we used to eat here and have (had!) fond memories. We were unsure when we arrived whether to seat ourselves; as there was a couple lingering in front of us, we decided to wait. While staff were walking around us, nobody paid attention to either couple. We were eventually informed we could choose any table, We ordered drinks and looked over the menu....then looked over the menu..then looked over the menu....When 10 minutes passed with no drinks, we got up, informed the waiter we were leaving and left. I guess a beer and chardonnay were too taxing for the crew. Hey, at least the waiter smiled when we left. We ended up dining at Backwater's, which was a more fun crowd, MUCH better quality staff and enjoyable food. I recommend dining here...if you arrive at 6pm, bring a book and plan on leaving around 10.

Five girls and I came here for dinner on a Saturday night. We were supposed to go to a different place, but took the recommendation from our hotel's concierge. You have to keep your eyes open for this place since it's behind Beachcomber. I was nervous about getting a table, but we were seated right when we walked in. At that point, I was more nervous about the restaurant (because what good restaurant has an open table at 8:30 on a Saturday?). We opted for indoor seating and were given our bread and waters immediately. I didn't get to check out the outdoor area, but it looked enclosed and more of a patio (I could be wrong) with greenery. Our server was Jackie: she was pleasant and provided great suggestions. You know she loves her job and that's great to see. I could not believe the size of their wine menu! Holy overwhelming! All of the girls and I ordered different drinks and food items. I did not try the Vineyard Margarita, but we were all surprised that the wine mixed into the margarita worked. The food was good! We all loved the 14-layer baked potato. I had one of the pizzas (pita pizza, more like it). There was no rush in ordering our food or clearing the table when we were finished. When the bill came, I was taken back; I thought that it would be more. This restaurant has reasonable prices. I believe that this place is a hidden gem in Clearwater Beach.

If you haven't been, you need to go! I had the quinoa burger and it was probably the best vegetarian burger I've ever tasted, I recommend every veg, or even non-veg, to try this burger. The rest of my party loved everything they ordered and left full and very happy. I was pleased with the service and the wine list was extensive. Just beware, parking is quite difficult, especially on weekends as their lot is tiny, so plan to pay for valet parking or a meter. Long story short, try it out if you're ever in the Clearwater/Tampa area, you won't regret it, it's a true hidden gem.

Been here several times. The previous time Tommy (sp?) helped us and he was nice, attentive, informative and adjusted the dishes slightly without a problem or misstep. He had all the right touches to make it a great experience and the food was equally wonderful this night. We have a grilled Chicken salad and the pork chop special. The second time we were there we had Stephan wait on us and again, eh was efficient, super nice, and gave us the right amount of attention. We again ordered the grilled chicken salad and this time the salmon. Everything was right: the temperature of the food at the table was perfectly hot, the salad was fresh and not wilted, the flavor of the grilled chicken was excellent, as well as the salmon. We asked to swap cooking in butter with cooking in olive oil. No problem with this. They truly treat their customers well and they are backed with a well run kitchen that makes everything as advertised. Finally, I have to say they have an extensive wine list and frankly I would enjoy a waine tasting evening there some day. They adjacent Beachcomber is another terrific place, but more of a dining room feel. Bobby's Bistro is a little darker, with a great patio option and possibly a little more romantic.

Went here recently while visiting Clearwater....I've been before, but not for a few years. The food was as good as I remember, a really great meal. What really stood out was one if the waitstaff, I believe he said his name was Steve. I was there with my 14 year old daughter who is blind. It was somewhat of a dark restaurant to begin with, Steve was so kind, he pointed out I light dimmer that we could use right at our table. He held the door each time we came and went, and even commented my daughter on her dress...I adore people that are kind, and he went above and beyond making us comfortable, and he wasn't even our waiter!!! I can't wait to go back and ask for Steve!!

Food was fairly good, & the service was amazing. The people we're accommodating, since I'm blind Steve pointed out a light switch over the table so I could see a lot better. The waiter was very nice named Ryan. You should definitely try the onion soup, rack of ribs, & burger when you go.

My sisters, mother and I ended our weekended celebration of my Mom's 80th birthday here. We saved the best for last! This is bistro dining at it's best. We had perfectly made martinis with escargot, signature bistro potato and the tenderloin pizza. Everything was delicious. The bartender was friendly, attentive and interesting. I can't wait to go back on my next visit to Clearwater Beach.

A little hard to find as it is hidden off Mandalay Ave behind the Beachcomber. Seems to attract the more mature patrons. There is indoor seating in two sections and outdoor area. We sat in outdoor area, with 60's music piped in. Menu has casual dining as well as steak entrees. I had a uninspiring salad and undercooked pizza that was delivered too soon after we received our salad. Nothing too wrong but at same time, nothing warranting a return visit.

Have to give this place a boost in ratings. Not sure why so low on yelp and great reviews on tripadvisor. We had a wonderful night here! Of course we were planning to splurge, which we did, but well worth it. Steve, our server, was great! Enjoyed a nice bottle of Pinot with our steaks. Filet was fabulous, cut like butter and sauce complimented mine well. Sauce on ny strip was a little different, fiancé didn't love it but steak itself was good. The roasted garlic was an awesome touch, couldn't stop eating those, but I love garlic! Def get the potato side, it is huge though! For more than 2. Bread and dipping sauce also wonderful. Prob could have nixed the Caesar I had, but fiancé had the bisque and it was good. Def try out! Nice atmosphere too.

Upon arrival we got seated in the backroom across the patio. One can hear their neighbors entire conversation because its really quiet, almost awkward quiet, plus there isn't any background music to dampen their voices out. I learned all about the gentleman in that sat in the back with their friends and how he used to tap dance when he was 17 and that his wife, Susan, who is 44, prefer that he played basketball, but there is no way he could have played because his mom spent too much money on his tap dancing shoes...catch my drift here? Aside from the funky atmosphere, I had their Giant Char Grilled Pork Chop with Granny Smith Apples, which was truly fantastic! Unfortunately for Bobbys Bistro, their excellent food doesn't fare well with the sub par service and atmosphere...Our waiter Jeff, who Chon N. mentions was excellent, definitely set the tone for the poor experience... To be fair, however, I would go back and give it another shot, based on its very positive reviews. Perhaps it was an off night for the restaurant.

Excellent beach style bistro. I have been here twice, in the summer (2nd time right after the RNC). Food was very good, drinks excellent, service excellent and ambiance was good. It can get loud in the bar area. Mostly locals come here not a lot of tourists (I live in Tampa and have been in Florida over 30 years). If you want bar food or tourist place keep on walking. It is hidden off behind the big restaurant so stop by you shouldn't be disappointed. I have had two different pizzas, soup, shrimp appetizer, grouper and salads. Consistent not a 5 star place but decent fresh food.

What a great choice and great meal. We ate out on the covered patio area which was a great atmosphere. We had the special blackened grouper dinner and the filet. Both were cooked perfect and we're fantastic. We are definitely adding this to the list of our regular places to visit when in Clearwater!

My hubby and I dined here as we were told from a local that we would not be disappointed. We had a Caesar Salad which consisted of a bed of Parmesan Cheese over a few pieces of Romaine..... Dressing was horrible. The Escargot app was eh. Then we shared a flat bread pizza which was just alright. The entertainment was awful. The only thing I will give kudos to is they had the red wine chilled to the perfect temp, points for that. I would not recommend this place. Chicago, IL

Headed to Bobby's again this trip to Clearwater. We ate outside around 6:00 on a Tuesday. Not many folks and pretty much had the place to ourselves. We love, love, love the Sizzling Shrimp with sherry. We enjoyed this last time and we were not disappointed this time either. We even try to duplicate the sauce at home. We also had the sea bass special which was cooked to perfection and the bistro potatoes. Huge portion on the potatoes. We brought the potatoes home and enjoyed them the next morning with some eggs. It was a very nice dinner with drinks and tip under $75. Delicious!

what a great find as we didn't even see the place from the main road. Great wine list, reasonable food prices and assortment, great service. Depending on the weather they have some outdoor seating which we chose and very pleasant.

Great place for light dining and drinks. exceptional service. Outside tables when the weather is good. an extensive selection of wines, many available by the glass. Attracts a sharp, hip crowd.

All the good reviews about this place sums it up! GREAT wine list and a nice alternative to the beachcomer which looked a bit more on the stuffy side. We had the best pizza and steak here! Service was relaxed but attentive. Atmosphere was quiet inside by the kitchen (which is what we wanted) but there was a more lively atmosphere outside and by the bar. We are derfinitely going back next time!

Came to Bobby's upon our arrival in Clearwater on the recommendation of family. I should first speak very favourably of the staff - the hostess and waiters were all friendly and efficient. Per Steven's comment below I'll note that we found Chuck to be extremely friendly and helpful, I guess anyone can have a bad day. Our appetizer soups were solid and tasty, and the wine selection is just about awe-inspiring. Sadly, the beer selection does not match up here and could definitely use some care and attention. Our mains - we both ordered the pork chop - was unfortunately seared and then cooked entirely in the microwave. We know this because we sat across from the open kitchen and watched them do it. What we received was an unseasoned, scalding and dried out piece of meat that, to be honest, was a big disappointment. Based on the recos of others we can only assume we hit it on an off-night as the preparation and quality of the food didn't match what was expected. I'm issuing a reasonable rating anyways but hope someone from Bobby's is paying attention and ensuring top quality food is consistently being served.

This spot is best described in one word : AMAZING! The atmosphere is great for a quiet dinner (ask for a booth in the side room), the food is OUTSTANDING, they have an excellent wine collection and the service is top-notch. This is one of my favorite hidden spots in the Tampa Bay area. Ask for Jeff and you won't be dissapointed, he's a friendly server with incredible knowlege of the menu and will take awesome care of you.

My wife and I recently got married on the beach in Clearwater. We came down a few months ago(from NJ) to scope out some of the possible places we could have dinner the night of our wedding. We wanted a place that was hip and had "fun" food... not a place that was stuffy and/or old fashioned. We decided on Bobby's Bistro because of the basic(yet fun) menu and because they told us that they could comfortable seat a party of 25 people on the patio. When we got to the restaurant, however, the experience was incredibly disappointing!!! They had indeed set up multiple tables for us on the patio, but one of the main space heaters wasn't operational. It also happened to be incredibly cold that night so half our party would be freezing. We noticed that the 3 parties that were already eating were almost done. I kindly asked the person attending to us(I forget his name at this point) if they could move our tables under the working space heaters once the other parties left. Not only did he huff and puff about it, it made it known that we were inconveniencing him and his staff. Not only did he tell every single person our dining party this, but he made sure to tell each customer around us. We actually heard him saying, "Sorry, these tables are going to be used because we have a wedding party and they NEED to be warm!!!! Can you believe it?!!?!". WHAT?!?!?! We clearly had the largest party that the place would see all night and that is how you are going to treat us? So unacceptable. Next, he told us that it would take over an hour for them to move the tables around. As if that would stop us from asking him to move the tables. I said, "ok... not a problem. We'll just go down to Sheppard's." He immediately changed his story and told us that it wouldn't take too long. As a matter of fact In the end, the food was ok(nothing great), and the service once we sat down was pretty good... but after the horrible attitude that we had to deal with when we got there, I don't remember much of the rest of the experience(except spending time with my family, friends and new bride). Oh yeah, the side potatoes were really great. Would I go back? nope Would I recommend Bobby's Bistro to anyone else? Hell no. Out of all of the options down in Clearwater, why would I send someone to a place that clearly doesn't care about how it makes the guests feel?

Really nice patio and great atmosphere. Not too touristy, huge wine list and good range of prices for bottles. Entrees are al-a-carte. We had a salmon fillet and some very tasty green beans with garlic butter. The salmon was cooked very well and had some spice. Server gave us two complimentary samples of wine to help us decide. Great food, excellent service, a very nice time!

First off, you must reserve Jeff as your waiter because he is absolutely fabulous. We came to Bobby's with a group of five girls and Jeff was always on top of things (i.e. brought out props we could take pictures with). The Sherry Shrimp was great and comes with a creamy sauce that you can dip the crispy, fresh, warm bread in. The vege pizza was awesome and priced well enough to even be eaten as an appetizer if you're feelin extra hungry. Order the NY strip steak or Filet Mignon. Both come on a nicely decorated plate with fried onions and great sauces. The Bistro Potatoes were really tasty but you could definitely share it. Overall, the restaurant would serve as a great date spot but there were some families sitting outside on the lit patio. The staff is very friendly and it was a classy retreat from the rest of Clearwater.

Came here for dinner the night before a friend's wedding. We sat on the patio. My friend and I ordered the stuffed portobello mushroom appetizer and two salads, mine steak, hers chicken. Appetizer was basically a caprese salad on top of a grilled portobello mushroom. The mushroom was a little watery, could have used a good salting before cooking, otherwise tasty and good. The browned mozzarella was a nice touch. The salads were a disaster of dressing. Both of our salads were swimming with a half inch of dressing on the bottom of the bowls. We complained and they offered to remake our salads, but I suggested that they just bring us some dry lettuce instead. That definitely solved the problem and the salads were very good after that. I just can't imagine a place every thinking that a salad that over dressed is properly made. Service is fine, environment nice, but that salad really bewildered me.

Not for families, but that's what makes it so great. Very dark and cozy. Great wine menu and great food. Service was great. Nice upscale spot away from dingy beach bars and seafood joints. Coming back soon.

It was a cold, and windy night in Clearwater. With plenty of room in the sheltered dining area, we were seated on the patio.. Ordered dinner, and the burger that is advertised " the best on the beach" was horrible. It had no flavor, and it tasted as if the grill needed to be cleaned. The servers did just enough to get the job done. The prices on the menu were difficult to read in the poor lighting. For the cost of the meal, it was a very disappointing experience.

We were looking for something besides the forgettable food joints on Mandalay St. I found Bobby's on Zagat. The Bistro was a small, boisterous oasis in middle of all the beach shops and restaurants. We chose the back patio which was cooled by ceiling fans, (was still a bit warm). The wine list was enormous both literally and figuratively with a good selection of half-bottles that were just right for my wife and I. Service was good and relatively speedy. Food portions were large and we felt strongly we got our money's worth. Quality food and presentation.

Terrible. We went because the Hilton staff recommended it. Maybe the main restaurant is good? Sat on the patio after the host made sure we knew we were lucky to get a table. Entire place was full of elderly locals. Why do they go here? Cheese plate & french onion soup were our apps. It was truly the MOST embarrassing cheese plate ever... we make fun of it still. Most of the items looked to have come from a local grocery store: cheddar, swiss, grapes, limp lettuce, 2 tiny chunks of brie. The french onion soup is better made by my friend in her home kitchen. I had a $20+ fish that was presented with another piece of limp lettuce and a lemon, like the cafe from my home town would. My S.O. had a soupy bland pasta dish with vegetables that probably came from SuperTarget. Instead of ordering dessert, we got out of there & had some ice cream at a grubby shop down the street that at least had a good atmosphere (instead of looking at cars through some plant coverings) & was worth the cash.

What a wonderful little restaurant in a rather barren area ( except for the Beachcomber next door - 5 stars). The only reason for 1 star is Chuck, one of the bartenders, who will seat his friends/relatives before those with reservations at the bar tables and then lie about whether or not they had reservations. It happened to me tonight. Other than Chuck, I highly recommend Bobby's for the food as well as the clubby atmosphere. Its more informal than the Beachcomber but dishes can be order from there too. Lots of locals eat here. On slow nights sit in the bar or across from the small kitchen as the back patio and booths can get lonely. I've dined here twice in two years and the food has been very good both times - try the Sherried Shrimp appetizer. I have not been in the area during the high season for good reason.

A disaster! This restaurant does not care much about its customers. We made a reservation, but the table they held for us was outside on the patio in space without air conditioning. The weather was typical Florida sauna and not bearable. When we rejected the table, the maitresse'd smiled at us as if we were crazy and estimated 40 minutes wait time for a table in air conditioned space. Very disappointing!

A hidden secret in clearwater beach! It is fantastic. The service was friendly and dinner was delish! this place is right behind bob heilman's beachcomber.. Try the pork chops.. they looked fantastic, everyone around me was ordering them, including the two guests I was with. The grouper sandwich was also delish! I'll definitely be back. The key lime pie was also amazing.
